Hazeltree helps buy side investment managers capture unrealized alpha, manage counterparty risk exposure, comply with escalating regulatory requirements, and improve operational efficiencies with integrated treasury management solutions. Hazeltree aggregates counterparty and customer data into one consolidated interface to integrate with internal workflow applications, empowering customers to analyze and optimize cash, margin, OTC collateral, and securities movements across counterparties. Hazeltree provides a detailed scorecard to help investment managers effectively strike and maintain mutually-beneficial partnerships with their counterparties.

Launched in 2011, Hazeltree’s complete treasury management solutions include comprehensive cash management, securities financing, collateral management, counterparty management, and prime-broker margin management capabilities. Leadership Team

Sameer Shalaby

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Shalaby joined Hazeltree in 2016 and oversees all corporate functions with a focus on achieving maximum value for clients, employees and investors. Prior to joining Hazeltree, Mr. Shalaby was the founder and chief executive officer of investment management solutions provider, Paladyne Systems, where he led its global growth until it was acquired by Broadridge Financial Solutions in 2011, where he continued as President of Paladyne until he departed in 2013. Prior to Paladyne, Mr. Shalaby founded investor operational management and accounting solutions provider, Cogency Systems and, as CEO, led its growth in the alternative investment industry. Prior to Cogency, Mr. Shalaby co-founded technology and vertical applications provider, TenFold Corporation, where he helped drive its explosive growth and public offering in 1999. Mr. Shalaby began his career at Oracle as a member of its core technology team. He holds engineering degrees from The George Washington University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is an investor in software startups and serves on several boards.

Sol Zlotchenko

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Zlotchenko joined Hazeltree in 2016 and oversees technology direction and development efforts. Prior to joining Hazeltree, Mr. Zlotchenko most recently was chief technology officer of investment management solutions provider, Paladyne Systems, which he co-founded in 2005 and was integral to its global growth until it was eventually acquired by Broadridge Financial Solutions in 2011. As CTO, Mr. Zlotchenko was responsible for all aspects of technology operations including development and product management. He played a key role in building Paladyne’s hosted Application Service Provider (ASP) solution, which was scalable for hedge funds of any size and for industry service providers. Prior to Paladyne, Mr. Zlotchenko has been a technology executive at a number of hedge funds and Goldman Sachs. He holds engineering degrees from Columbia University, is an active investor in software startups and serves on several boards.

Paul Calderone

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Calderone joined Hazeltree Fund Services in 2011 and is responsible for the daily operations of the company, with emphasis on product strategy and direction. Before joining Hazeltree, Mr. Calderone was a Director of Equities, Prime Services at Credit Suisse Securities and was responsible for institutional coverage and product management. Prior to that, Mr. Calderone was with Morgan Stanley & Co. where he held leadership roles in Product Development, Risk Management, Client Service, Collateral Management, Technology and Operations within the Equity Financing Services department.

Ayman Sakr

Head of Client Service

Mr. Sakr joined Hazeltree in 2016 to focus focused on managing client service globally, with specific focus on product implementation, support, and training. Prior to joining Hazeltree, Mr. Sakr was global head of client service and product management of investment management solutions provider, Paladyne Systems, which he co-founded in 2005 and was integral to its global growth until it was eventually acquired by Broadridge Financial Solutions in 2011. As head of client service, Sakr was responsible for all aspects of client implementation and support globally supporting clients in each continent. Prior to that, Mr. Sakr led various client service and technology roles at Cogency Software and TenFold Corporation. Mr. Sakr has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Cairo University, Egypt.

Sal Ventura

Head of Client Relationship Management

Mr. Ventura joined Hazeltree in 2016 to focus focused on managing client relationships to ensure senior-level sponsorship and connectivity between clients and Hazeltree, prioritizing client requests once they are fully implemented with Hazeltree, and maximizing the value of Hazeltree’s solutions to clients on a continuous basis. Prior to joining Hazeltree, Mr. Ventura was Managing Director and Global Head of Client Service for JP Morgan’s Custody and Fund Services. Previously, Mr. Ventura was the Global Head of Citigroup’s Investment Banking and Private Banking Operations & Middle Office. Prior to that, Mr. Ventura held executive positions in prime brokerage at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Ventura is a CPA and a graduate of Binghamton University holding a B.S. in Accounting.

Sandeep Rawal

Chief Product Officer

Mr. Rawal joined Hazeltree in 2012 and leads all technical aspects of Hazeltree’s products. Previously, he served as CTO of Fir Tree Partners, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund, where he led the development of enterprise level technologies, developing internal systems and implementing products from a number of different vendors. His prior experience includes senior technology roles at Moore Capital and Maverick Capital.

Don Jefferis

Managing Director, Strategic Accounts

Mr. Jefferis joined Hazeltree in 2017 to expand and lead business development efforts into strategic markets. He brings three decades of working with commodities producers, marketers and traders to institutionalize and scale risk-managed, operationally excellent firms. Prior to Hazeltree, Mr. Jefferis was the founding partner of energy-focused consultancy Opportune LLP’s Process & Technology practice. Previously, he held leadership positions in several other consultancies and software companies focused on commodities trading, alternative asset management and fund administration, including President of TenFold Energy, Chief Financial Officer of TenFold Corp., and Chief Information Officer for Mirant Corp. Mr. Jefferis started his career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he co-founded that firm’s Energy Risk Management practice. Mr. Jefferis holds a B.S. in Accounting degree from Michigan State University and is a CPA. He serves on the National Board of Advisors for the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum.

Jeremy Slade

Managing Director, International

Mr. Slade joined Hazeltree in 2013 to lead business development efforts in Europe and Asia Pacific. He brings two decades of institutional sales and marketing experience focused on the alternative investment management. Prioto to Hazeltree, Mr. Slade managed business development globally at S3 Partners. Prior to that, he spent a decade at E*Trade Financial where he headed institutional sales originally in Asia and thereafter in Europe for EMEA. Mr. Slade’s global business experience is complemented by deep understanding of alternative investments, treasury, and prime brokerage, with domain expertise across equities, fixed income and FX.

Technical Implementation Consultant
